Our digital devices can tell everything about us – who we visit, what we like and believe, who we befriend, where we go, our medical concerns and other personal information.
 
The government is required by the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to obtain a warrant before it can seize our personal information. But the government has found a workaround to the Constitution – it can spy on us by simply buying our personal information from shady data brokers.
 
The Fourth Amendment Is Not for Sale Act is bipartisan legislation that would close this loophole. It would prevent data brokers from selling our personal information to law enforcement and intelligence agencies without authorization by a court.

    ​As your constituent, I'm urging you to support hearings for The Fourth Amendment Is Not for Sale Act so it can move forward and become law. As you may already be aware, our government is required by the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to obtain a warrant before it can seize our personal information. However, it has come to my attention that our government has found a workaround to the Constitution – it can spy on us by simply buying our personal information from shady data brokers. This is unacceptable.
