Virginia! Contact your Member of Congress about Section 215!
Change the law that lets the government snoop on your personal information.
The Problem
The federal government asserts a right to see your personal information held by businesses, from your call records, to your medical records, to video captured on your home security systems. Under certain circumstances, the government could gain access to any such record, from your online searches and purchases, to your health and genetic records.
To troll through your most personal information, the government does not need a probable cause warrant, as required by the U.S. Constitution. All it needs to do is to assert your information is “relevant” to national security.
Section 215 is designed to catch terrorists and spies. For that reason, its reauthorization is certain. But we cannot allow a government program meant to protect us to become a danger itself.
