PPSA Statement On Today's Release of Inspector General Michael Horowitz's FISA Report

12/9/2019

It's clear. The deficiencies of the FBI's FISA performance are symptoms of a broken system – US surveillance law needs statutory reform. Here's why:

  • The Horowitz report leaves no doubt that the FBI lied to the FISA Court through errors of omission and commission.
  • Horowitz’s call for DOJ regulatory reform is not enough. The law must be reformed.
  • This is not a partisan issue. Sen. Graham put it best: “Trump today, someone else tomorrow.”

We’ll have more to say as the implications of the Horowitz report emerge. Stay tuned.
